In providing accessible, dependable, and timely services, the Licence Revenue Office continues to improve its service delivery, providing for a smooth flow of the registration process. For the process to successfully work, registrants must ensure that all requirements are also met when registering for the various services.

Upon making an application for a Motor Vehicle Registration, the applicant must produce the relevant documents to the Licence Revenue Office, if the vehicle was imported:

  • Completed application form
  • Cashier’s receipt from Customs
  • Original invoice/ packaging list
  • Bill of lading, Delivery Order
  • Title, Export Certificate
  • An official translation of the registration or cancellation where the country of origin is a non – English speaking one
  • E/SAD
  • Official identification (valid ID or Passport or Driver License)
  • Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN)
  • Assessment Notice
  • Tax Exemption Letter (if applicable)

NOTE: If the vehicle was purchased locally, an Assessment Notice and the Official translation of the registration will not be required.

The cost associated with the registration process is based on the vehicle type:
  1. Motor Cycles: G$1,000.00
  2. Motor Car: G$2,000.00
  3. Duplicate: G$1,000.00

REGISTERING A DIPLOMAT OR GDF MOTOR VEHICLE

In an effort to register a Motor Vehicle under the Diplomatic Service or the Guyana Defence Force, the respective agencies must provide the following documents to the Guyana Revenue Authority’s Licence Revenue Office:

  • A copy of the letter of approval, for the issue of a DPL or GDF registration signed by the Commissioner- General (GRA).
  • Cashier’s receipt from Customs
  • Assessment notice
  • Original invoice/ packaging list
  • Bill of Lading, Deliver Order
  • Title, Export Certificate, Manufacturer’s certificate
  • An official translation of the registration or cancellation where the country of origin is a non- English speaking one
  • E/SAD
  • Official identification (valid National ID or Passport or Driver License)
  • Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN)
The cost associated with the registration process is based on the vehicle type:
  1. Motor Cycle: G$1,000.00
  2. Motor Car: G$2,000.00

In ensuring the validity of your application, a physical examination of the vehicle (s) will be conducted by a Licence Revenue Officer and Customs Officer, to verify the details provided, e.g. engine and chassis number. Additionally, checks will also be made to verify that the original tint of the vehicle (s) falls within the conformities of the Law.

Note: The cost of other Motor Vehicle Licence is dependent on the weight of the vehicle.
